Now Robert is riding north to Winterfell, bringing his queen, the lovely but cold Cersei, his son, the cruel, vainglorious Prince Joffrey, and the queen’s brothers Jaime and Tyrion of the powerful and wealthy House Lannister-the first a swordsman without equal, the second a dwarf whose stunted stature belies a brilliant mind. A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire 4) by George R.R. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse-unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. There his family dwells in peace and comfort: his proud wife, Catelyn his sons Robb, Brandon, and Rickon his daughters Sansa and Arya and his bastard son, Jon Snow. Huzah. For the first time, all five novels in the epic fantasy series that inspired HBO’s Game of Thrones are together in one eBook bundle. Nothing huge was revealed that we didn't already know and it doesn't appear to set up a whole lot.except maybe more horse riding. This was a "meh" chapter to the story and I'm not sure Book 5 will be any better. If I had to wait this long, I don't think I would have the patience to read, wait, play catch up, and then care about the characters anymore because I would have forgotten all about them. Brienne’s chapters in A Feast for Crows offer some of the most insight into smallfolk like across both Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire.

I honestly can't understand how Martin keeps fans with a six year gap between books. It doesn't help that this book was originally in with Book 5 and Martin splits half the characters up so there are a lot of "wait, when did that happen?" or "wait, did that happen?" moments that you don't get until Book 5. Arya has some great chapters but they are few and far between. Brienne's chapters are pretty much her riding and riding and riding. Most of it was the same internal monologue over and over again. Not much (nothing huge) happens again, and even less than Book 3.
